Welcome to "Why I'm Not Writing." We all know that the only thing writers like doing more than writing is avoiding writing. So every Friday I list five things that have distracted me from my writing that week.
I also encourage you to share with me what made you procrastinate this week by posting with #whyimnotwriting on Twitter, Facebook & Instagram, or share in the comments below. I'll feature my favorites with everyone here.
Alumnae Social
Last Friday, I attended an Alumnae Social at a local brewery for my alma mater, Salem College. It was a crazy but awesome night of sharing drinks and stories from our Salem days. Even though we were all different ages, it was a great way to connect.
Going to the Zoo
After a rough last week, my husband and I decided to take a trip to the zoo with my family. There was a big group of us and we had a great time at the Asheboro Zoo. I was pretty exhausted by the end of the day, but being sounded by so much love and nature was a much needed break.
Classic Movie Marathon
At Target last weekend, we bought a few “classic” movies we’ve always heard about but never seen, like Blade Runner and The Blues Brothers. It’s been fun checking out these older movies that are referenced in so many of our favorite films.
Test Driving
After a couple of weeks of online research, we headed out into the weeds and did some actually driving on potential new cars. We haven’t found anything we’re in love with yet, but we definitely have found somethings we don’t like, so we’re slowly narrowing the list down.
Camp NaNoWriMo
After some rushed catch-up, I was able to finish out Camp NaNoWriMo 2019 on time with 15,500. It was by far my easiest challenge so far, but it’s been an exhausting week, so I’m glad I kept things simple. It was also a nice reminder that I don’t have to go to extremes to accomplish something great in a month.
