This week, we have an interview with Becca & Krista Richie about their latest book, The Last Hope, the sequel to The Raging Ones.
It can be a challenge combining two author's visions into one novel, but your books flow so easily. What was your process for combing your voices?
We have the same process when we write every book. First, we extensively discuss and brainstorm together – which is really fun since we’re twin sisters but this can also easily derail as we gush about Marvel and geeky stuff we love! Then, one of us will start writing and the other will be a few chapters behind fleshing out the story with more detail. In the end, our voices just combine into one as our words are melded together.
What is the first book that made you cry?
Hands-down, The Two Princesses of Bamarre by Gail Carson Levine – we both read this when we were younger and connected to the love between two sisters and the ending made us bawl our eyes out.
What advice do you have for aspiring writers looking to publish their first novel?
Write from the heart and never give up. We know it’s the simplest advice, but the way to never achieve your dream is to stop trying.
Thank you again to Becca & Krista for the interview! Check back in with my next week for a review of The Last Hope.
