Welcome to the Why I’m Not Writing This Week series!
If you’re not familiar with this series, just know that the only thing writers love more than writing is avoiding writing. And I am definitely no exception. Every Friday, I list five things that distracted me from my writing this week.
I encourage you to share with me your reasons for not writing every week too and I’ll share my favorites in the latest edition.
Bob’s Burgers
Instead of watching a new show this week, I turned back to one of my favorite feel-good shows, Bob’s Burgers. The goofy but light-hearted show never fails to cheer me up. Sometimes because of the hilarious one-liners and other times because of the just pure wholesome family moments.
Doctor’s Appointment
I went back to the doctor’s this week for one of my monthly check-ups. This one involved some pretty serious (but routine tests). Normally my husband comes with me to all my appointments, but due to COVID-19 precautions, he wasn’t allowed this time. It was strange and a bit sad being there alone, but luckily everything went well.
Animal Crossing: New Horizon
As an extra pick-me-up, my husband bought me an early birthday gift: the new Animal Crossing game for switch. I’ve always loved this series, because of it’s general laid-back nature, but now especially it’s very comforting. I played it for a few hours straight the first day and have had to cut back since then for other responsibilities, but I highly recommend it!
Mental Health Day
This Wednesday I took a mental health break from my day job and from pretty much everything. I spent the day just relaxing (playing my new game) and trying to put as little pressure on myself as possible. At the end of the day I felt completely refreshed and little more at ease with the state of things. If you get the chance, give yourself a day off.
Hello April!
My favorite month of the year is finally here! While most of the things that make April so exciting (Riverrun Film Festival, celebrating my birthday, visiting family around Easter),have all been cancelled or postponed, I’m still excited to enjoy this month and am crossing my fingers for some fun soon.
