Welcome to the Why I’m Not Writing This Week series!
If you’re not familiar with this series, just know that the only thing writers love more than writing is avoiding writing. And I am definitely no exception. Every Friday, I list five things that distracted me from my writing this week.
I encourage you to share with me your reasons for not writing every week too and I’ll share my favorites in the latest edition.
Happy Birthday To Me
On Tuesday, I celebrated my 27th birthday. It has been a bit of an odd birthday this year, due to the state of things. I’m not going to lie, it was a bit difficult, but I have so many great friends and family members who did their best to make it special. Thank you all!
Psych
The USA Network announced they were running a crazy marathon of one of the few crime shows I’ve followed and really love, Psych. Unfortunately, I don’t have cable so I can’t watch the marathon, but it did remind me how much I love this show so I’ve been watching it on Amazon Prime instead. If you enjoy quirky comedies and a bit of mystery, give it a watch!
Spring Showers
Lately, we’ve been experiencing some beautiful Spring weather. Lots of sunshine, breezes, and comfortable temperatures. Plus, the stereotypical surprise Spring storms. I personally love thunderstorms so it’s been nice listening to them at night and or watching them from the windows in the afternoons.
Audiobooks
My creative energy has been pretty zapped lately. Partially because of my new work schedule and the COVID craziness and partially because of my complete exhaustion from starting the third trimester of my pregnancy. But I have really been enjoying listening to audiobooks lately. And, you can get audiobooks for free with your library card and the Libby app!
Family Video Chats
This week, I had a chance to do a large video chat with a side of my family I don’t get to see very often. It was great to catch up with everyone and see how they’re doing. I also had a video chat with my mom, which we hope to turn into a weekly meeting. I think one of the good things coming out of all this is getting more comfortable with technology and connecting with loved ones virtually.
