Welcome to the Why I’m Not Writing This Week series!
If you’re not familiar with this series, just know that the only thing writers love more than writing is avoiding writing. And I am definitely no exception. Every Friday, I list five things that distracted me from my writing this week.
I encourage you to share with me your reasons for not writing every week too and I’ll share my favorites in the latest edition.
Making It
I’ve recently started watching Making It , a crafting competition show hosted by Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman. I really just started watching for Amy and Nick’s hilarious chemistry, but I stayed because it’s a genuine feel-good show with some positive vibes that I really need right now.
Filing Taxes
This week, me and my husband filed out taxes. It felt like an oddly normal thing to do in this time of absolute insanity. Of course, it was also an added level of stress for a little bit, but I’m still glad we got it done. AND we’re expecting a little bit of a refund this year which was a definitely mood lifter right now.
Spring Causebox
The most exciting part of my week was receiving my Spring Causebox! I absolutely love this subscription box, because not only does it help me welcome in each new season, but it’s filled with super cute, high-quality items that I never would have picked out for myself. Plus, everything is made sustainably and benefits different charities.
COVID-19
I’m trying not to dwell on this aspect of my week as much, but it would be a lie to say that it’s not affecting every aspect of my life at this point. Many people, like my co-workers and my parents, are under stay-at-home orders, and I’m self-isolating due to my pregnancy. I’m really hoping I can just keep my head down and everything will crest and settle soon.
Spring Has Sprung
Spring is finally here, but it still feels like a dreary winter this week. But we’re getting pumped for better weather and bought some potted plants for me to take care of while I’m stuck at home. We’re also redoing our back porch decorations to try to make it a nice space to hang out once the sun decides to show.
