Welcome to the Why I’m Not Writing This Week series!
If you’re not familiar with this series, just know that the only thing writers love more than writing is avoiding writing. And I am definitely no exception. Every Friday, I list five things that distracted me from my writing this week.
I encourage you to share with me your reasons for not writing every week too and I’ll share my favorites in the latest edition.
Day Care Shopping
With the days and week already going by so quickly, me and Daniel are having to be very proactive about finding a day care for when the time comes later this year. Many of the places near us are optimistic about having spaces available when we’ll need it, but we need to get on their waitlists ASAP. It’s a pretty overwhelming experience but also a bit exciting.
Time With Family
I was really lucky this week to get to have dinner with BOTH sides of my family. We had a great dinner with my mom and brother in Greensboro as my brother started his last semester of college. And we got to eat with my husband’s mother and sister, not for any special occasion but just because. Both experiences were the relaxing, distracting break I needed.
Libby
Have you guys heard of this app? It lets you use your library card to access tons of e-books and audiobooks absolutely free. I’m already blazing through books on my commute to work, and highly recommend it for busy readers.
Day Job Craziness
Things at my day job have been absolutely nuts this week. We’re looking into significant software upgrades and other big-picture projects that require a lot of my time and energy while I’m in the office. And then, once I get home it’s about all I can do crawl into bed and get enough rest for the next day. I hope things settle down soon.
Back To The Gym
Now that my morning sickness has (mostly) subsided, I can get back to the gym. I’m a little limited on what sort of exercises I can do now and I definitely don’t have the energy level I did before I got pregnant, but it’s been nice to spend an hour walking and spending time with my husband.

1-5: Twitter.
Maybe not so much a distraction… but I have a cold and one day I was feverish. And revisions. So not much writing done, since I really have just been cough, sleeping and revising all week.

Final proofing of Book 2 in my Savage Spells series consumed me this week. Totally necessary but sort of a bummer because I was picking up steam on writing Book 3, which I’m excited about. Or maybe proofing counts as writing?

And some medical appointments for my mom, too.
Pretty much the same. Had a crazy work schedule and wanted to recoup, but it turns out my schedule's going all wonky again, so now I'm making the time for my budding cafree instead of making excuses not to 😋 pic.twitter.com/CsMStS4MjJ
