Welcome to the Why I’m Not Writing This Week series!
If you’re not familiar with this series, just know that the only thing writers love more than writing is avoiding writing. And I am definitely no exception. Every Friday, I list five things that distracted me from my writing this week.
I encourage you to share with me your reasons for not writing every week too and I’ll share my favorites in the latest edition.
Holiday Hangover
With Christmas and New Years over and the next holiday months into the future, I’m feeling a bit of what I like to call “Holiday Hangover”. It’s a really fun affliction where you dread going back to your normal work-home-sleep-work life and don’t know when your next day off will be. I’ve found this usually lasts a a good week or two and then you forget all about it and just start the grind. I’m hoping mine passes soon because I’m exhausted.
Doctor’s Appointment
Apparently when you’re pregnant, you have to go in for doctor’s appointments much more frequently. As someone who hates doctor’s offices and blood and needles and invasive tests, this has been a bit tricky for me. But I also know things will only get worse over the next few months and am grateful for a great spouse to help me through the visits and, so far, a really great team of doctors and staff to work with.
Gilmore Girls
With all of life’s craziness lately, I’ve been in the mood for a tried and true feel-good show in my life. So, I’ve been rewatching one of my favorites: Gilmore Girls. The mixture of drama, quick humor and loveable family squabbles is just what I’ve been searching for. And I’m very grateful for my husband who doesn’t mind me watching the same shows over and over and again.
Winter TV Premiers!
On that note, I am excited about some new shows that came out this week. Since we’ve officially started up the Winter/Spring television season, I’m seeing the premiers of some of my favorite shows. Schitt’s Creek started its final season this week and The Good Place began the second half of their final season. I’m sad two of my favorite shows are ending this year, but so excited to see how it happens.
Great Books Coming Soon
I haven’t just been going to the doctor and lying around the house though. I’ve also been doing A LOT of reading lately, and listening to some great audiobooks from my local library. I’m excited to be able to share these books with you over the next few weeks. If you love YA fantasy as much as I do, make sure you subscribe so you always know when I have a new review.
