Welcome to "Why I'm Not Writing." We all know that the only thing writers like doing more than writing is avoiding writing. So every Friday I list five things that have distracted me from my writing that week.
I also encourage you to share with me what made you procrastinate this week by posting with #whyimnotwriting on Twitter, Facebook & Instagram, or share in the comments below. I'll feature my favorites with everyone here.
Summer Novelrama 2019
This last week, I participated in Rocky Mountain Writers’ Group’s Novelrama. The challenge was to write 25,000 words in only 4 days. I originally thought the challenge was crazy, but it was oddly obtainable with such a short deadline. I was able to get just over 25,000 words rewritten on my new On The Rails draft. If you’re interested in joining me in the next challenge, mark your calendar for March 20th-23rd, 2020.
Happy Birthday Mom!!!
I’m so lucky that I got to see my mom not once, but twice this week, for her birthday. I had a brunch alone with her on her actual birthday on Sunday. We had such an amazing time, just the two of us. I also got to see her again on Monday, when me and my husband had a beautiful dinner to celebrate her once again. Happy birthday Mom. We love you!!!
Baseball Game
We got the chance to attend another baseball game this year. We had an amazing time and our team actually won! While it’s our last game for the season, we wanted to give a big shout to the Winston-Salem Dash and all their players for a great season.
Rewatching
Lately, I’ve been in a mood to rewatch some old favorites. So far this week, I’ve rewatched Derry Girls, Good Omens and Brooklyn 99. It’s been fun going back to watch some of my favorite shows from the last year, but I’d love to find a great new show. If you have any suggestions for a funny new show, please let me know!
Plans For The Fall
My plans for the Fall are already filling up. I have two conferences planned, a cruise, a couple of vacations, plus the holidays. The Fall hasn’t even started and I’m already exhausted. Of course, I’m also looking forward to everything, too.
