Welcome to "Why I'm Not Writing." We all know that the only thing writers like doing more than writing is avoiding writing. So every Friday I list five things that have distracted me from my writing that week.
I also encourage you to share with me what made you procrastinate this week by posting with #whyimnotwriting on Twitter, Facebook & Instagram, or share in the comments below. I'll feature my favorites with everyone here.
Riverrun Film Festival
This week starts the Riverrun International Film Festival in Winston-Salem. We have a number of films planned out to see and even more events to attend. I attended one opening reception last night, have a Gala planned for tonight, multiple movies this weekend, and then even more text week. I’m so excited!
CampNaNo
April starts CampNaNoWriMo, which is a lot like National Novel Writing Month, but is a bit more low-key. My goal this month is write 1,000 words a day on my new novel, ON THE RAILS. So far, things are off to a shaky start, as I’ve been so busy, but I think I can catch up.
Superstore
I started watching this sitcom this week on Hulu. Actually, it accidently rolled over when I finished watching another show, but I’m so glad that it did. Since both me and my husband have worked in customer service, it’s really satisfying to watch this silly, but realistic show.
Birthday Week!!!
My birthday is on Sunday, but I’ve started celebrating this week. My husband made me a special dinner on Wednesday, and I took yesterday and today off from my day job. I still have a lot of work to do, so I can’t fully relax, but it is really nice to take a step back from everything for a few days and celebrate me.
Lent
This has been a really rough week, so it would have been for me to fall into old binge-watching patterns. But luckily, having friends visiting and a lot of events coming up, I’ve done fairly well not bingeing on TV shows this week. I did catch up on a lot of stuff on Sunday, my day off, but hope I’ll be able to carry this new habit into next week.
