Why I'm Not Writing This Week 11/9

Welcome to "Why I'm Not Writing." We all know that the only thing writers like doing more than writing is avoiding writing. So every Friday I list five things that have distracted me from my writing that week.

I also encourage you to share with me what made you procrastinate this week by posting with #whyimnotwriting on Twitter, Facebook & Instagram, or share in the comments below. I'll feature my favorites with everyone here.

NaNoWriMo

This week was my first full week working on my YA Vampire NaNoWriMo project. So far I’m totally on point with my word count, despite skipping Sunday because of travel and exhaustion. I’m loving the characters and the world so far, I just hope I figure out what the plot is soon.

NC Writer’s Conference

I finished up the North Carolina Writer’s Network conference on Sunday. It was great to meet and get to know beautiful writers from around the state and learn even more about the publishing industry. It was a fun, distracting and exciting weekend!

Inked Voices First Pages Critique

I had a chance over the last couple of weeks to participate in a first pages workshop on Inkedvoices.com and get feedback from fellow writers and Linda Camacho. If you’re looking for ways to improve your writing and network, check out Inkedvoices.com .

Self Care

After the crazy events of last week, with my computer crashing and some drama at my day job, plus my conference, which was excellent but exhausting, I’ve been working hard to take care of myself. I’ve been eating more, taking baths, enjoying time to myself, and it’s been a real gift.

Scrubs

With our new Hulu membership, I get to rewatch an amazing TV show that I haven’t been able to watch in years. I usually hate medical shows, but this one mixes in enough comedy and heart, that I actually enjoy it very much.
