Writer Spotlight: Evelyn LaTorre

Before Evelyn LaTorre sat in her big bed and wrote two memoirs, she worked with Cesar Chavez in the Central Valley of California and spent a summer in Mexico helping set up a school and a library. After college she joined the Peace Corps and lived two years in Abancay, Perú. There, she taught PE in poor schools and organized Girls' Clubs. In her coming-of-age memoir, Between Inca Walls, she writes of her childhood adventures in Montana and California and falling in love in Peru.

Her book is available on Amazon.com and in bookstores via her website: https://www.evelynlatorre.com. There you can see the awards her book has won.

Evelyn retired in 2002 after 32 years as a school psychologist and special education administrator. She loves to travel. To date, she and her husband have traveled to close to 100 countries. You can view her stories and photos on her website and in World View Magazine, The Delta Kappa Gamma Bulletin, the California Writers Club Literary Review, the Tri-City Voice, Dispatches, Clever Magazine, and Conscious Connection Magazine.  A second book, Love in Any Language, about the struggles and triumphs of a bicultural marriage will be published in September 2021.
