Why I'm Not Writing This Week 9/28
Welcome to "Why I'm Not Writing." We all know that the only thing writers like doing more than writing is avoiding writing. So every Friday I list five things that have distracted me from my writing that week.
I also encourage you to share with me what made you procrastinate this week by posting with #whyimnotwriting on Twitter, Facebook & Instagram, or share in the comments below. I'll feature my favorites with everyone here.
INDIE AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT
I'm still looking for authors to participate in my Indie Author Spotlight. This gives independently published authors the chance to have their book exposed to thousands of new readers every month. As this is our first month, your chances of being chose will be much higher than any other month. So don't wait and check out my page!
Gatlinburg
Over the weekend, I took a trip up to Gatlinburg with my mom’s side of the family. We stayed in a beautiful cabin on a mountain and just spent time together. It was incredibly relaxing and it’s always rejuvinating to spend time with people you love. I wish I could have stayed longer.
Critical Role
While on my trip, my dad introduced me to the DnD-based podcast him and my brothers have been listening to. I’ve never played DnD before, but I am a huge fan of roleplays in general, so I checked it out. I’m only a couple episodes in but am really loving the actors and characters. Tons of fun and great writing inspiration!
Family Loss
After a fun weekend, I, unfortuantely, came home to the news that my husband’s grandmother had passed on Sunday. While I didn’t have a chance to get to know her very well since I joined the family, my husband and mother-in-law were deeply affected by the loss. We spent the week together, enjoying company and attending services.
My First Conference!
Today is the start of my first writer’s conference at the SCBWI Carolinas’ By Word and By Line Conference in Charlotte. Over the weekend I’ll be networking, getting feedback on my work and learning more about the publishing industry. I’m a little bit nervous but extremely excited to attend.
