Why I'm Not Writing This Week 2/22
Welcome to "Why I'm Not Writing." We all know that the only thing writers like doing more than writing is avoiding writing. So every Friday I list five things that have distracted me from my writing that week.
I also encourage you to share with me what made you procrastinate this week by posting with #whyimnotwriting on Twitter, Facebook & Instagram, or share in the comments below. I'll feature my favorites with everyone here.
Cold, Cold Weather
After a fool’s spring a while ago, the cold weather has came back with a vengeance this week. There’s been frost and ice and even a couple of school delays. While my husband enjoys the cold weather, I’m counting down the days until Spring.
Allergies
With the sudden changes in temperature, our house has had a bad time with allergies. Between coughing, sneezing and the chugging of NyQuil to just get a few hours of sleep, it’s been rough. Send happy thoughts and maybe some prescription strength allergy medicine our way, please!
Family In Town
I’m really lucky that my Aunt was able to visit for a couple of days this week. While she was in town for a conference, she stayed with us and had dinner with us each night. It was nice to have some company and an excuse to clean up the house a bit…
International Literary Awards
The Center for Women Writers is excited to launch this year’s International Literary Awards! Guidelines for each category are on our Submittable page.
The winner in each genre—poetry, creative nonfiction & fiction—will receive $1,000. An honorable mention in each genre (judge’s discretion) will receive $150.
Emotions Thesaurus Vol. 2 - AVAILABLE NOW!
You may have heard of The Emotion Thesaurus before, or even have a copy. The original's lists of body language, thoughts, and visceral sensations for 75 unique emotions made brainstorming character expressions and reactions so much easier. It quickly became a bestseller.
Now, there's a bigger, better second edition. Angela and Becca have added 55 NEW emotions such as Euphoria, Vindicated, and Schadenfreude. (And that's not all that's new, either...the book is almost twice the size as the original.)
Anyway, if you're interested in checking it out, you can read some of the reviews on Goodreads or find information here.
