Why I'm Not Writing This Week 2/15
Welcome to "Why I'm Not Writing." We all know that the only thing writers like doing more than writing is avoiding writing. So every Friday I list five things that have distracted me from my writing that week.
I also encourage you to share with me what made you procrastinate this week by posting with #whyimnotwriting on Twitter, Facebook & Instagram, or share in the comments below. I'll feature my favorites with everyone here.
Community
My most recent Hulu binge is the Dan Harmon classic Community. I’d heard a lot of great things about this show, including Donald Glover and Danny Pudi’s amazing bro-mance, but as with many NBC shows, didn’t have the chance to watch it until we got our Hulu subscription. I didn’t expect to be as addicted to the show as I am. I literally can not stop watching it.
Valentine’s Day
Yesterday was Valentine’s day. I hope you all enjoyed the holiday with your loved ones, whether they be friends or significant others. My husband and I had a delicious dinner with drinks and dessert. And, as I make him do every year, we watched Princess Bride, the beset movie of all time.
Sweetheart Pitch
This week, SavvyAuthors.com, ran their Sweetheart Pitch contest, where you can pitch your book to agents, editors and other publishing professionals and get the chance to bypass their slush pile. I was happy to find many agents looking for books like mine and I’m crossing my fingers that I get some hits. Times not out for you, either! You can still pitch until 11:59 PM EST tonight.
Mentorship
I’m super excited to announce that I’ve been chosen as a mentee by Tania Del Rio. We’ll be working together over the next three months to revise and polish my novel. I’m looking forward to improving my book and getting to know my new mentor.
Emotions Thesaurus Vol. 2
You may have heard of The Emotion Thesaurus before, or even have a copy. The original's lists of body language, thoughts, and visceral sensations for 75 unique emotions made brainstorming character expressions and reactions so much easier. It quickly became a bestseller.
Now, there's a bigger, better second edition. Angela and Becca have added 55 NEW emotions such as Euphoria, Vindicated, and Schadenfreude. (And that's not all that's new, either...the book is almost twice the size as the original.)
Anyway, if you're interested in checking it out, you can read some of the reviews on Goodreads or find information here.
