Why I'm Not Writing This Week 1/5
Welcome to "Why I'm Not Writing." We all know that the only thing writers like doing better than writing is avoiding writing. So every Friday I list five things that have distracted me from my writing that week.

1. Happy New Year!
I hope you all had a beautiful New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Daniel and I celebrated with friends and family at our home, enjoying cocktails, champagne, Cards Against Humanity and Just Dance. As I'm sure you can infer, it was a bit difficult to write that night or the day after.
2. New Writer's Group
I recently joined a writer's group in my area and attended my first open mic night this week. I'm used to fairly large opening mics and this event was very intimate. It was a great experience and much different than anything else I'd done. I'll be attending a critique group once a month (hopefully) and am really looking forward to that! I've said this before, but if you want to commit to your writing career, do some research about writers groups in your area and join one! It's a great resource.
3. So Many Books!
As I talked about a couple weeks ago, I've joined NetGalley as a Professional Reader and Reviewer, so I've been sent some Advanced Readers Copies of books from publishers. That means I have a bunch of reviews lined up for this year that you can expect every Wednesday. I have reviews scheduled through the end of February so far. Get excited!!!
4. 52 Weeks 52 Stories
This year I'm participating in the #52weeks52stories challenge, which is basically to write a flash fiction/short story every weeks. I got a flash fiction piece done for this week and will send it along to my writing buddy on Sunday. Woohoo! There's still time to join if you're interested. 5. Our Blog Tour Is Off With A BANG!
As I mentioned in my post on Monday, one of my goals for my blog this year was to do a blog tour with other writers. So far we have about 20 blogs signed up to participate so I'm really looking forward to it! If you're still interested but haven't signed up yet, reaching out to me via my contact page because I'll be capping off the signups pretty soon.
