Why I'm Not Writing This Week 1/24
Welcome to the Why I’m Not Writing This Week series!
If you’re not familiar with this series, just know that the only thing writers love more than writing is avoiding writing. And I am definitely no exception. Every Friday, I list five things that distracted me from my writing this week.
I encourage you to share with me your reasons for not writing every week too and I’ll share my favorites in the latest edition.
Studio Ghibli Binge
Lately me and my husband have just really been craving the perfect mix of lighthearted fun and wisdom that can only come from a Studio Ghibli movie. In the last week, we’ve watch probably 4 of our favorite movies, but I wouldn’t be surprised if our streak continues over the weekend.
Maternity Clothes
Since things have started growing, especially around my middle section from the baby, I had to take my first shopping trip for maternity clothes this week. I really thought it’d be like shopping for clothes regularly, but it felt completely different and really weird. Luckily, I ended up with some cute pieces that I’m very excited about.
Health Care Issues
One of the most frustrating and time-consuming things I’ve dealt with this week is debating the cost of tests done back in October of 2019. I’m really lucky that I have family in this industry who are able to help, but nothing beats the anger that comes after waiting on hold for an hour to end up talking to a call center that can’t solve your problem.
Nasty Weather
It’s been alternative this week between freezing cold and blustery winds and rains. Of course, this is never at the same time, so it hasn’t snowed at all. Instead, it’s just nasty, miserable weather that makes you want to stay inside and a take a nap.
Exhaustion
On that note, probably the biggest reason I haven’t written this week is that I’m just plain exhausted, both mentally and physically. It’s probably a combination of everything going on with me right now, but it’s been hard to come home and convince myself to do anything but lay down and go to sleep. I hope things are a bit more productive for all of you!
